A Sustainable Future for Novi

Our City Council plays an important role in making sustainability more than just a word on paper. Novi’s future depends on planning with our residents’ needs at the forefront. Thoughtful development that protects our parks, waterways and green spaces and the infrastructure to support it will make Novi a desirable city now and for years to come.

Centering Development Around Residents
As Novi has grown, our City government has played a central role in crafting projects as they proceed. Novi has only a few remaining areas which Novi has grown faster than its infrastructure can keep up with. I will prioritize thoughtful development with the goal of incentivizing the repurposing of vacant and blighted spaces in our city.

Purchasing Park Land and Greenspaces
The City Council once had a goal of acquiring 50 acres of land per year to protect it from development - that goal is now gone. With our city rapidly building out, it is important that the City Council take an active role in preserving the remaining greenspaces for residents. As Mayor, I will restore this goal and advocate for more parks and natural areas especially where there is currently a lack of walkable parklands, trails, and corridors.

Green Connectivity
A city as great as Novi should not have walkways that lead to nowhere. On City Council, I will prioritize connecting our existing walking spaces and identifying new opportunities for expanded trails.

Sustainability Committee and Preserving Our History
I believe our city serves our residents best when we can plan for the future while honoring our past. When I last ran for election, I advocated for the creation of a sustainability committee which would be tasked with reviewing the city’s environmental footprint and offering solutions to make our community more environmentally friendly. In 2024, that goal became a reality. I want to assist this committee in implementing their objectives, and helping to bring 21st century solutions to the Council table.
