Connecting Our Government to You
How your city government operates has a direct impact on your daily life. When leadership is dismissive or inaccessible to residents, our entire community is at a disadvantage. As Mayor, I will make myself accessible to residents through a variety of methods, in-person and virtual, to ensure you always have a way to share your concerns with myself and city staff so we can collaborate to find solutions for you.
Planning with Every Resident in Mind
Local government works best when every single resident has the power and ability to be heard. Historically, residents and the City Council had a stronger voice in the planning processes. Over the last several years, that ability to be involved has been eroded. As Mayor, I will work with the city staff to expand opportunities for our residents to be involved.
Diversity is Novi’s Strength
Novi’s residents have a wide range of experiences, history, and values, and yet each of our residents chose to make Novi home because they saw the promise our city could bring to their families. As Mayor, I will have an inclusive appointment process which welcomes new voices and viewpoints.
Protecting the Vote in Novi
Thanks to recent voter-initiated laws, voting has never been easier or more secure in Novi. When I’m elected, I will ensure that our great city clerk and her staff have the resources they need to operate the safest and most efficient elections in the state. As Mayor, I will safeguard the rights of voters and ensure that every election here in Novi is free and fair.
Expanding Access to Public Meetings
The City of Novi established Studio No.VI after exiting the Southwestern Oakland Cable Commission (SWOCC). The studio has been responsible for broadcasting city council meetings and special events, and has been a great success. I want to build on its success for the future. Currently, meetings of important city boards and commissions can only be broadcasted if they are held in Council Chambers. As Mayor, I will expand opportunities for residents to be engaged in our decision making processes, even if they cannot attend in person.
